In addition to being a leader in sustainable site planning and design, CLH Design has developed an environmental education program to involve school children in the green movement. This innovative program called “Sites That Educate” creates and implements a hands-on project for an elementary school. Each project not only educates students and their families about protecting the environment through sensitive site design, but it also allows the children to get their hands dirty and construct wetlands and animal habitats on their school property.
CLH founder Christine Hilt, FASLA, LEED® AP is also an active leader in promoting environmentally smart site design for schools and communities - design that not only creates a healthier environment, but also healthier kids. The efforts encourage renovation and adaptive reuse, as well as the development of walkable/bikeable connections and campuses. CLH Design believes that designers can play a significant role in educating elected school officials on the importance of sustainable site planning and high performance facilities.
