Moore Square Museums Magnet
Middle School – Raleigh, NC
This urban downtown Raleigh school site encompasses one city block. All egresses are barrier-free, in spite of 25’ grade changes along the site (from Person to Bloodworth Streets). The outdoor spaces were designed with heightened security in mind without appearing institutional. CLH implemented creative solutions in order to ensure ample outdoor play areas given the economy of space.
In 2003 Moore Square Museums Magnet Middle School received The EPA National Award for Smart Growth Achievement. That same year, The City of Raleigh presented the school with The Sir Walter Raleigh Award for Community Appearance for Outstanding Contribution toward Enhancing the Beauty of the City of Raleigh.
