Wake Forest Town Hall – Wake Forest, NC
Located in historic downtown Wake Forest, the Master Plan for this new government complex was designed to include a new Town Hall that will house the associated town departments. A new Police Department is planned as a future addition to the campus.
The Town Hall site design includes a large tree-lined plaza located at the front of the building. The plaza surface is designed with concrete pavers that from a grid. Positioned in the center of the plaza is an amphitheater-style gathering area with a large art piece as the focal point. Additional seating is also provided in the plaza, as the area is used by the Town of Wake Forest to host frequent town events.
To extend the downtown grid, Taylor Street was designed to serve as access to the new Town Hall, Miller Park and the existing Police Department, and is lined with trees and on-street parking. An additional parking lot is located to the east of Taylor Street to serve as staff parking. The new Town Hall complex construction is to be completed in 2010. This new pedestrian-friendly complex is a great addition to the downtown area and will be used for generations to come.
